Ditto, I'd love to at least read his speech! There wasn't even any mention of this on the news here, but I may have just missed it.....didn't really have time over the last few days to watch the news.

No worries, Zhora. I actually agree with your POV, I've always considered "beg for forgiveness rather than ask for permission" the best thing too. I loved that quote from Jon Stewart. I wish everyone could have heard the whole speech, instead of just the snippets on the news. There was so much that was good in it. One probably wouldn't realize that listening to the talking heads on cable news, but the "grownups"...

c4c - hope you feel better quick. I went to the dentist yesterday too but it was a getting to know you and your mouth visit - new dentist. I liked her. I need to have my wisdom teeth on one side out and have procrastinated for years. Ugh. Loved Obama's speech. Like John said last night - a man talked about race to people as if we were grownups. What a concept.

C4C - good idea to check with your dentist. I remember when I had some work done on molars way in the back of my mouth that one of my ears felt a bit 'wonky' for a bit.

RIP, Arthur C. Clarke. Truly one of the great writers.

If for no other reason than he actually addressed the issues head on, Obama's speech was pretty amazing in this day and age.
