Oh yes, Zhora, don't you love the way Andy says, "Shit," and then looks up furtively to see if Brian is buying it? A reviewer mentioned in SOP how Russell is such a good actor that he can portray a character doing a bit of bad acting believably--in regard to the scene in the car when he is talking to the drug dealers, trying to fake the jargon.

I don't watch TMZ or any of the entertainment shows, really, unless Russell is going to be on. The staccato...

I read some good reviews of Public Enemies this morning. Michael Mann is a top director and the actors are sure to be great in this film. I am not quite sure why I have absolutely no interest in seeing it. The trailers left me cold. Dillinger is just not an interesting figure to me.

Same here. The trailer didn't exactly set me on fire. Plus I am just not a fan of Johnny Depp.

Thanks for that review, Cindy, of the SF concert. It brings back memories and is an example of what Sec wrote about a journalist taking a particular slant on a topic and making everything else fit. I remember thinking that Russell was in good humor at the concert I saw ... until the small group of screaming twits got to him. No, what I saw wasn't in a review. It was in a little article by itself in the entertainment section. I wish I had clipped it.

Barbie, I hear you about the ridiculous state of news this week. As I think most of you know, I live in southern California, so everything is at a fever pitch around here. I woke up this morning thinking, am I gonna turn on the television and see breathless footage of Jackson's body being driven to Neverland??? So far that hasn't happened, but....
And, if I hadn't watched Keith Olbermann I don't think I would have heard that we are FINALLY PULLING OUT...

I didn't see it until long after it was out, but I loved it and my favorite RC scene was the "teacup" scene.

There are many great scenes in Proof but this is one of my favorites also. Watching Andy in this scene is similar to watching Cal put all the pieces together in that scene from SOP, Russell is just amazing at conveying what he's thinking to the audience in these kinds of scenes. Now I really have to pull out that Proof CD and watch it...

Great review of Proof! I need to take a look at it again, too, Cindy. It is always interesting to go back to Russell's older films to notice a certain look he has in a scene, a familiar hand gesture or how he says a particular line that is reminiscent of another moment in a movie he made years later that took your breath away.

I'm a newbie bait eater. I don't have a clue as to what to order even though I'm adventurous, so like Cal end...

Thanks for that article about Proof, Cindy. That is one of my favorite of Russell's movies. How many films examine the nature of friendship, love, and trust? The acting by all three principals was wonderful. That amazing look of absolute incomprehension on Andy's face when he sees Celia restraining the dog is alone worth watching the film.

Proof will always be one of my fav RC movies. I didn't see it until...

I'll never forget the review of a Chicago TOFOG concert I read one time.

I can beat that one, Sec. After the TOFOG concert in San Francisco in 2001, there was an article in the Chron, I think, that said that there was a large contingent of gay men in the audience in San Francisco and that they were throwing their boxers and jockey shorts on the stage. They quoted ... and I mean quoted, with quote marks, not "Russell Crowe was reported to have said"...
