Good morning..
My goodness... doesn't Peter look absolutely hunky in those pictures? I wonder who did the photography? The style looks a bit familiar. I watched my recording of Jimmy Kimmel's after Oscar show last night after everyone else went to bed. Ben was quite charming and quick with the quip. There was no mention of SoP however. You'd never know he was filming. One other thing I noticed... he didn't accompany his wife Jennifer to the Oscars... and when she was being interviewed on the red carpet, and was asked where he was, she side stepped the question without answering. I hope all is well with them... they certainly appear the charming couple.. with a darling daughter. ![]() |

Wow! Thanks, Darrin, those are two gorgeous photos of Peter. I hope we can find the article online later today or tomorrow.
BC, maybe Ben was taping Kimmel when the red carpet was going on, that happens pretty early. I don't know what time the show tapes but if it's the same time as Leno does, then it was probably about the same time as the carpet thingie. Or maybe he just didn't want to do the carpet. He was wearing a tux on Kimmel so he definitely went to either the show or some after parties. My friend Gwen, and I are going down to Phoenix today (Gwen calls it the Big Shitty, LOL), for some lunch and shopping, so will see you later this afternoon. Have a great day, everyone! Speaking of Ben, I thought this little blurb was pretty cute, LOL! http://www.people.com/people/article/0,,20180632,00.html?xid=rss-topheadlines

Not to bad so far, eh? I think we'll live in the new format.
It's a snow day at sec7's house, and that means a big breakfast, so y'all come on down. (close your eyes if you hate salt and cholesterol...LOL) Biscuits, jam, gravy, sausage, hash browns, eggs...not really that much snow, but enough to call off school. It's always fun to see the stories in the snow...going down to the barn to feed this am, there were fresh bunny tracks across the little bridge that crosses our stream. LVMARIES, I'd be up for a "group reading" of that book. Whether you like the book or not, Hank Reardon is a role Russell is ideal for. The
journey of the character is the longest and most complicated of all the characters, I think, and requires a lot of "supressed" emotion to be shown,
he's very conflicted for much of the book. Russell would be a marvel in this role, I can't tell you how much I'd love to see him
do this.

That f*cking Ben Affleck thing was a complete and total hoot, and Cindy that was my thought too - Ben might have been filming during the red carpet, lucky
him. LOL And Ben's wife didn't need to be a part of that video, because she already has proof. Violet. *giggles*
Thanks for the HaC story as well. He's has such a willowy appearance, but I was really impressed at his hands on approach at Jax. He was in the
trenches getting the job done.
This is totally OT, but did anybody see clips of that New York Philharmonic concert in North Korea? I found that really moving, music is the universal language.

Hubba, hubba that PHaC is even better looking in person.
I sure hope they have Yuku for dummies in the other thread cause I sure would like to get my small pic back and so far it's all a blur. Whoa there it is. Guess the ole brain isn't working yet. I'm missing that happy wagging greeting when I come in the door the most. Thanks for the bunny news. Hope it all goes well on Friday for them. ![]() |

Morning,
Peter is looking might fine! I have to say one of the highlights of Jax for me was getting to meet him. I had one of those 'dumbfounded speechless' moments at the Jax Landing Press Call when after I told him my name he said my pictures were great and he thanked me for putting them up on the Rabbitoh message board! Since I was having computer issues, he offered his help to have the Souths website admins back in Sydney get my photos up on the site. It truly was saved me so much time and frustration and it was very kind of him. I know some of us were wondering when the Kimmel/Affleck video was recorded, so I'll post this article from the Times today. http://www.nytimes.com/2008/02/27/arts/television/27kimm.html?_r=1&ref=television&oref=slogin [quote] Late-Night TV Satires Become Online HitsLOS ANGELES - The worst-kept secret in Hollywood on Oscar night was whom Jimmy Kimmel was sleeping with. Nevertheless, a satiric video in which Mr. Kimmel, the host of the ABC late-night talk show "Jimmy Kimmel Live," talks enthusiastically - jokingly, we are led to believe - about his sexual relationship with Ben Affleck, has been a huge hit online since it was first shown on Sunday during Mr. Kimmel's post-Oscar broadcast. As of Tuesday afternoon, the four-minute video had been viewed more than two million times on YouTube. It has also been prominently displayed on the broadcast network's home page, ABC.com. The "relationship" has not been a secret since at least Feb. 15, when The New York Post reported that Mr. Kimmel was preparing a star-studded video, reminiscent of "We Are the World," as a reply to a similar video presented on his show last month by the comedian Sarah Silverman. Ms. Silverman, who is Mr. Kimmel's longtime girlfriend, unveiled her video, in which she confesses that she has been sleeping with Matt Damon, on Mr. Kimmel's fifth-anniversary show on Jan. 31. Iterations of that video have been viewed more than eight million times on YouTube. The Matt Damon angle originated from a joke that was introduced more than three years ago by Mr. Kimmel as a throwaway line. One night, discouraged by what he described as a sub-par show with guests who "weren't what you would call A-list celebrities," he signed off by telling the audience that he was sorry that he had run out of time and that Matt Damon would have to come back on another night. After Ms. Silverman revealed that she was hooking up with Mr. Damon - everywhere, it seemed, and all the time - Mr. Kimmel vowed to take his revenge. "You take something I love from me," he vowed, "I'm gonna take something you love from you." Most of the lyrics of Mr. Kimmel's and Ms. Silverman's songs are too graphic to be repeated here. One vulgar word describing the coital relations between, on the one bed, Ms. Silverman and Mr. Damon, and on the other, Mr. Kimmel and Mr. Affleck, was repeatedly bleeped out for the broadcast of each video. Several scenes from the videos also required pixelation. In a telephone interview on Tuesday, Mr. Kimmel said that the most difficult part of the project was arranging the schedules of the stars featured in his video - they included, in addition to Mr. Affleck, Brad Pitt, Harrison Ford, Cameron Diaz, Don Cheadle, Robin Williams, Josh Groban and Huey Lewis. "Every once in a while Hollywood rallies itself for a worthy cause," Mr. Kimmel said. "We saw that with the 'We Are the World' video, with 'USA for Africa' and after 9/11. This is just the next natural step in that progression." (A number of the stars had ABC ties, which probably eased some of the logistics. Those included Christina Applegate, star of "Samantha Who?"; Rebecca Romijn, of "Ugly Betty"; and Dominic Monaghan of "Lost"; in addition to Mr. Ford, who is the longtime partner of Calista Flockhart, star of "Brothers & Sisters.") The gaggle of celebrities was wrangled by Jill Leiderman, an executive producer of "Jimmy Kimmel Live," who also performed the not-insignificant task of explaining the premise of the enterprise to the various stars - who, while certainly regular viewers of Mr. Kimmel's show, might have been at a Hollywood premiere or volunteering at a soup kitchen on the night Ms. Silverman's video was first broadcast. The music was written by Mr. Kimmel's music director and bandleader, Cleto Escobedo III, Mr. Kimmel said. Also contributing to the song lyrics and the dramatic content were his brother, Jonathan Kimmel, who is a writer for "South Park," as well as the writing staff of "Jimmy Kimmel Live." Ms. Silverman has said, and Mr. Kimmel confirmed, that her song and video were written before the beginning of the writers' strike because it was planned for broadcast on his show on Nov. 13, his 40th birthday. But planning for that broadcast was interrupted by the strike, so the video was instead shown on his fifth-anniversary show in January. Mr. Kimmel said his video was recorded last Wednesday and Thursday. Members of the Writers Guild of America voted on Feb. 12 to end the strike. While the video was edited for presentation on a television show that is shown after midnight in most markets, it - and its not-too-disguised premise - is now prominently featured on ABC's Internet home page. An unsuspecting visitor to the site will be introduced to the video's not-too-subtle premise automatically, because the site begins showing video clips without prompting once the home page is loaded. The video also includes pictures of Ms. Silverman with vulgar insults scrawled across them - again, words that cannot be reprinted here and, presumably, would not appear on most Web sites affiliated with ABC's corporate parent, the Walt Disney Company. Karen Hobson, a spokeswoman for ABC's digital division, said that any material previously vetted through the network's standards and practices department is automatically approved for use on the Web site. She said the Web site did not differentiate, however, between content approved for viewing on television after midnight and that intended to be shown in prime time, because the average age of users of the ABC Web site is over 30. Other networks have wrestled with the same issues. Ms. Hobson noted that NBC.com last year posted an unedited version of a vulgar parody music video featuring Justin Timberlake and Andy Samberg that, in edited form, appeared on "Saturday Night Live." Regarding ABC's ties to Disney she said: "We're not talking about Disney.com. This is a different brand."

Sweet, Sec! Now there are two of us!! It seems "The Bookshelf" thread here at MR may be the best place for us to chat! If anyone else wants to join
up, let's say, "Go find (or buy) your copy of Atlas Shrugged by next Monday and we'll set up a schedule?!?! If it works out, maybe we can have
the weekdays to read and focus on posting Sat or Sun for chatting? Just a thought; I'm open to any suggestions!! Used book stores here in LV almost
always have multiple copies for sale, if anyone's interested!! I'll be getting one for myself to scribble on for our chats (wouldn't dream of
doing that with my hardbound edition....too OCD, I recon!), so if you want me to check for you, just say so!! This could be real fun!!

I have just watched ABM: the last time was a long time ago and it has moved me completely once again! What a wonderful performance by Russell! There are so many touching moments and he never overacts! This was the movie which made me a Russell fan and every time I watch it I understand why. Somehow I missed seeing the Jimmy Kimmel vid. Must go find it.
Oh, man, Sec, that is cruel describing that wonderful breakfast when I am sitting here eating oatmeal. Yeah, it's a late breakfast. I went to have a blood test to have my cholesterol checked. I don't think I can join the Atlas Shrugged book chat. I am slugging my way through "Merchant of Death" about a Russian arms dealer. It is strange, in that it is really fascinating but a slow read at the same time. I need something light when I finish, like the next Patrick O'Brian book. I only have two left, I think, then I will have to go back and read them all again. I am totally in love with the character of Jack Aubrey in the books. The one in the movie wasn't bad either. Did anyone watch The Daily Show last night? John Oliver did a funny ribbing of Jon Stewart on how he did a really good job as a host, but no one saw it. He said that it was the lowest rating of an Oscar show ever. [sarcasm]Gosh, if that is correct, I wonder why?[/sarcasm] I scanned through my recording of the Oscar show, which unfortunately cut off after 3 hours. But somewhere, maybe on a news show, I saw that Helen Mirren copied my use of the term "cojones," in what I guess was her introduction to the Best Actor awards. Damn, is EVERYONE reading at MR? did anybody see clips of that New York Philharmonic concert in North Korea?I heard two long reports on NPR about this with some of the music - very moving to see how music/art can conquer such wide political, geographic and cultural divides. Plus any excuse to listen to Gershwin is a good. CGee - very cool how Peter and the staff helped you and smart too, because you took some terrific photos. I always like to read whatever the next project is going to be but I tend to wait until it's announced - I've got other books lined up and am currently well into my favorite, John Irving's latest. (He's such a pervert - love him to bits) Peter is looking good!

Thanks for the article on producing the Kimmel vids.... and wouldn't you know it... they try to stir controversy.
I'm so sick of the TV witchhunts ... the vids were on late, late night TV and then on a website catering for adults. We're adults.. if something offends us, we can clik it off or not watch it in the first place. and if kids are watching late night... parents ought to do something about it. I thought both vids were hilarious. Speaking of funnies... I have one for you [hey, there's no Crowe news, so we need to keep ourselves amused, right?] I really really need a few extra laughs, so I'll assume others do as well. And wonder of wonders.. it's clean. A friend sent this along to me... it's a good'un Subject: Fw: BOTTLE OF WINE!! ![]()
