Thanks for your thoughts on Public Enemies, ladies. We'll probably go see it in the next week or two. Regarding not being emotionally engaged,
but interested - that's kind of the way I felt about American Gangster. I enjoyed watching it, but there was a detachment.
Regarding TMZ. I agree with Kittie's perspective, especially the last part. My thought process goes like this:
I find TMZ unethical, sleezy, and blatantly gossipy.
The reason TMZ exists is because they make money from advertisers.
The advertisers buy ads because of the numbers of site visits.
If there were no site visits, there would be no advertising dollars and there would be no TMZ
Therefore, the only way I can register my protest at this kind of "reporting" is to not visit the TMZ site - ever.
I realize it's a drop in the bucket, but it's the only drop I have any control over.
I loved Dirt Music the book. It's going to be a difficult book to bring to a visual medium, and I sure don't want another Eucalyptus. If they feel like they can do it right? Man oh man, would I ever love to see it.
